Aligning Building Access Hours - Pilot Project
As part of keeping our campus safe and secure, UBC is standardizing building hours for 2021/2022 Winter Term 1. Buildings will be open to the public Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These standard hours will be assigned to approximately 70 buildings on the Vancouver campus, that fall into the categories of academic, research, or administrative buildings that service the operations of the University. Ancillary buildings, such as UBC Athletics, UBC Aquatic Centre, Bookstore, etc. are not included at this time.

Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences June 1-7, 2019
UBC will host the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in June 2019. Congress is the largest interdisciplinary conference in Canada, and one of the largest in the world.
Learning Space Design Guidelines 2018 Update
The Learning Spaces Team is pleased to share that the 2018 update to UBC's Learning Space Design Guidelines (LSDG) is now live. This was a collaborative effort between UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan, involving multiple departments from both campuses.
UBC Life Building 2201 (Old SUB Building Renewal)
The UBC Life Building (previously named the Student Union Building or Old SUB has been converted into a 294-seat teaching theatre. Located at the geographic heart of campus, it is now suitable for use as swing space for future projects where large theatres would be temporarily taken out of the classroom inventory.
Leonard S. Klinck (LSK) 121 Coding Lab
LSK 121 was a poorly equipped, under-utilized computer lab in need of an upgrade. In collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, the Learning Spaces Team converted the room into an innovative teaching lab suitable for both computational/coding activities and traditional instruction.
Hennings 200 Active Learning Theatre
In 2017, UBC’s Learning Spaces Team undertook a project that would see the transformation of an iconic traditional lecture theatre, Hennings 200, into UBC’s first collaborative lecture theatre. The new HENN 200 layout allows for instruction to seamlessly switch between small group work and front-of-room teaching, without the need for furniture reconfigurations.

Learning Space Improvement Projects
The Learning Spaces Team works to continually improve learning spaces on campus. Established as an annual initiative, the Learning Spaces Team invites Advisory Committee for UBC Learning Spaces (LSAC) members to submit proposals for their Faculty’s top priority projects in general use classrooms, restricted classrooms, teaching labs, and informal learning spaces.
