The Learning Spaces team is made up of specialists in learning space design, scheduling, and AV. Together, we work to create and optimize formal and informal learning spaces at the Vancouver campus. Here’s who we are and how we do it

Facilities Planning

Creating and improving learning spaces
  • Provide support and input on the construction and renovation of learning spaces
  • Manage spaces on a day-to-day basis
  • Analyze current learning spaces usage and makes recommendations for annual upgrades
  • Consult with user groups prior to construction to create the most effective design possible

UBC IT Audio Visual

Enhancing learning through technology
  • Plan and implement innovative audio visual systems for new and renovated spaces
  • Operate the AV helpdesk (604-822-7956) for “just-in-time” class support and other AV related requests
  • Support and maintain AV enabled spaces
  • Provide AV equipment rentals and live event/conference support, including client consultation, delivery, setup, and technical assistance for on and off-campus venues
  • Live event media capture and social media live streaming services
  • Follow emerging technology trends and test new AV technologies for use on campus

Scheduling Services

Providing strategic scheduling solutions
  • Provide leadership on the development of the academic course and final exam schedule
  • Develop scheduling policies and guidelines
  • Manage and administer distance education, standing deferred and supplemental exams
  • Manage and administer the prioritization and booking of general teaching space at UBC Vancouver Campus
